Ira Allen starred in the one hour special on P.B.S. Network, "So you Want To Be A Star." The TV show was a big success and included appearances by "Opry" favorites Minnie Pearl, Grandpa Jones, Slim Whitman, Don Gibson and Little Jimmy Dickens.

Ira, with his band, has toured the United States and Canada for many years, building a reputation as having one of the most entertaining and professional shows in country music.

For more than a year, he was the featured performer at the World Famous "Palomino Club" in Hollywood, California, opening nightly for such stars as Kenny Rogers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Rabbit, Hank Williams, Jr., George Jones and Tanya Tucker. Other stars Ira has appeared on shows with during his career are: Mel Tillis, Ray Stevens, Roy Clark, The Haggar Brothers, Hoyt Axton, Johnny Paycheck, Marty Robbins, Commander Cody, Rex Allen, Faron Young, Flatt & Scruggs, Sheb Wooley, Susan Raye, Freddy Hart, Barbara Fairchild, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Dave & Sugar, Molly Bee, Ernest Tubb, Lefty Frizzell...and the list goes on and on.
